Lecture: 4 x 6 Hours Weekly
Syllabus: The effect of underground and open-pit mining on the environment. Geotechnical problems caused by abandoned mines. Waste rock and tailings management - material behaviour, design of dumps and dams, operation and performance monitoring. Change of water regime on mining areas. Mine subsidence over coal and hard rock underground mines. The effect of abandoned mines on surface stability.
