Introduction

Designed to provide the relevant theoretical foundations and techniques of management, law, logistics, purchasing, and contract administration via case studies and practical business applications. A range of issues are studied that are applicable to strategic procurement, including: competitive conduct, strategy, logistics, and management.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A bachelor degree in a field other than business, economics or commerce, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution or a graduate certificate (in an appropriate discipline), or significant professional experience.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This fee-paying course is two semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. Some units are available in the evenings.

Professional Recognition

Graduates are eligible to meet the requirements leading to full membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply in the United Kingdom.

Career Opportunities

Graduates are expected to obtain employment in both the public and private sectors. Public sector employers include the State Supply Commission, Department of Contract and Management Services and local government authorities. Private sector employers include: large commercial organisations and mining companies.

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
