Syllabus:

Survey law - history of land law, systems of land tenure, acts and regulations relating to survey and administration of Crown land, freehold land, roads, public works, mining and local government. Licensed Surveyors Act and Regulations, Mining Act and Regulations. Management - professional and legal responsibilities, professional ethics. Office procedures - filing, recording and reporting systems. Planning and organising survey activities. Quality assurance. Principles of management including budgeting and cost centres, project evaluation and management, industrial relations, leadership and supervision. Major risk in mines and management of mine safety. Enforcement of the regulations and mines inspectorate. Mines rescue, theory and practice.
