309994 (v.1) WASM Mining Systems 331

Syllabus:

A detailed understanding of advanced underground mining systems and technologies. For each of the underground mining systems considered the unit will develop an in-depth understanding and analysis of mining processes, systems and their key drivers. Core risk identification and mitigation method infrastructure requirements. The mining systems and issues to be considered include the following - coal mining, advanced longwall systems, thick seam mining, hydraulic mining, pillar mining systems (partial extraction, place changing). Multi-seam mining, gasification metal mining, caving methods, block cave, sublevel caving, VCR, cut and fill, room and pillar and shrink stopping. 'Raisebore' mining, dilution and ore loss control, small scale mining and future technological trends. Method selection and planning of a mini project.
