Introduction

This course is designed to provide foundation studies for students intending to undertake bachelor degrees in the Division of Science and Engineering. It is particularly suitable for those who have not had an opportunity to advance their knowledge and skills in sciences and mathematics. Female students are encouraged to apply. Successful completion of the course will satisfy the University's entry eligibility requirements with students eligible to enrol in a bachelor degree program in the Division of Science and Engineering. Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds may be directed to English language bridging courses.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Applicants who have had limited educational opportunity are encouraged to apply. Selection is based on an assessment of a personal portfolio and an interview. This may include secondary school and TAFE studies, other scholastic achievements and communityinvolvement.

Duration and Availability

The course is between one and two semesters full-time study. It is only available on a part-time basis in special circumstances.

Course Organisation

A study program is determined by the Undergraduate Coordinator following an interview and an assessment of career pathways by the student. Depending on units undertaken, this may not be a standard full-time load.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
