Introduction

Completion of this major will provide students with the ability to communicate in Chinese culture. The focus of the major is the Chinese (Mandarin) language. The major also provides an insight into the social frameworks, political structures and religions of Chinese culture. To successfully complete this major students are required to complete two core units, eight Chinese language units and two elective units. Students commence with Chinese 111, or a more advanced unit depending on the student's communicative ability, and after consultation with the Chinese teaching staff.
