Introduction

The course addresses the needs of a professional engineer in pursuing a higher degree both by recognising their experience and time constraints. Students attend course topics, intensive block programs and resource-based learning through distance education.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) or equivalent degree majoring in Electrical Power. In addition, proof of employment associated with the power industry or at least one year experience in the power industry is required, if not currentlyemployed.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Recognition of prior learning not exceeding two-thirds of the required credits, may be granted to a student transferring from another program at a recognised institution,with satisfactory completion of equivalent coursework and/or with proof of professional training or substantial work experience gained in industry.

Duration and Availability

This fee paying course is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study. Two intakes are offered each year in March and August.

Intermediate Awards I

A student who has completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval from the Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate awards approved for this course are:

Intermediate Awards II

Graduate Certificate in Electrical Utility Engineering.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
