300442 v.6 CRE UniReady Enabling Program for Regional Students

This course is not available to International Onshore Students on Student Visas

Introduction

The CRE UniReady enabling program for regional students will enable students to matriculate into Curtin (and other universities) as well as bridge into a limited number of specified courses delivered through Centre of Regional Education (CRE). The program will incorporate a high degree of flexibility and responsiveness that will cater to students with a wide range of educational backgrounds and experiences. This program will be flexible enough to allow students to do one, some or all of the units (depending on their requirements) and will be responsive in allowing students of different ages and educational backgrounds to apply.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

The CRE UniReady enabling program will be offered to regional students who have not met the entry requirements for their desired course at Curtin University of Technology for a range of reasons including lack of prerequisite subjects, a near-miss TER, or no TEE. The program will also be offered to students who have completed Year 10 or 11 and have been out of the school system for a minimum of 12 months, as well as mature age applicants with a minimum Year 10 of study and appropriate experience/portfolio. TAFE students with a Certificate III or IV wishing to enter university, but missing required core subjects or prerequisites will also be eligible to apply. Candidates must complete at least one English module in order to show competence in English if utilising this program as a bridging pathway unless separate evidence exists.

Specific Requirements

Flexible delivery may be required for some units. An entrance test may be administered. At application, students are required to consult with the course coordinator to determine eligibility and a career pathway.

Note

Applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Upon successful completion of the course, those who wish to continue on to degree level studies are required to consult with the course coordinator to determine eligibility and a career pathway.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applicants cannot receive recognition of prior learning for bridging units undertaken when transferring to award courses.

Duration and Availability

The program is one year full-time study or equivalent part-time study and will be delivered subject to sufficient numbers. Some units may be available on a flexible basis.

Course Organisation

Students will complete the units required for matriculation and/or entry into their preferred course of study.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
