Introduction

This program is designed for students who wish to increase their knowledge and skills in information systems, information technology and internet security.This course allows students to progress to the masters of commerce program in information systems.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A bachelor degree in business, economics or commerce, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This fee paying course is of one year full-time study or equivalent part-time study.

Course Organisation

The course consists of eight units of study, each carrying a weighting of 25 credits. Students have the option to choose from areas of study which include strategic information systems, business information technology management, knowledge management, programming, web services and architecture, database mining, problem solving, computer forensics, Internet security and cyberwarfare. Students intending to enter the master program must complete an optional unit - Research Methods in Information Systems. Successful completion of the eight units and maintaining a high course average may grant applicants successful entry into the Master of Commerce (Information Systems).

Professional Recognition

With a prior computing, IS or IT related degree, graduates may apply for membership with the Australian Computer Society.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
