Introduction

The rapidly expanding role of technology-based learning systems across a range of training contexts requires that current and future educators and trainers develop skills in the effective use of learning technologies. There is a particular need for teachers in schools and other educational settings to acquire the capacities to design and facilitate effective instruction for situations such as online learning environments. A major focus of the course will be online environments however, the approach will emphasise the acquisition of powerful and transportable generic skills that maintain their currency despite rapid technological change. This course encourages personal and professional development through learning that is relevant and transferable to the requirements of educators needing to systematically design and implement online training materials in a variety of settings.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A bachelor degree, or equivalent qualification, from a recognised institution. Applicants must provide evidence of current teaching, training or staff development responsibilities in which the practical requirements of the course can be satisfied.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The duration of this fee-paying course is one year part-time external study. This course is not available to international onshore students on student visas.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
