Introduction

This course is designed for those from diverse backgrounds seeking to develop advanced understanding of social policy and practice. It provides an opportunity to explore theoretical approaches to the study of social policy and the skills to analyse and participate in policy making in a wide range of settings. While the course is designed as generic in its framework, it draws on special areas of expertise and it explores content from a comparative and global perspective. This allows the development or advancement of knowledge, and practice skills in an area of specialisation. On completion of this course students are encouraged to undertake a further semester of study to complete the Master of Social Policy.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A degree in social work, social sciences, business, social administration, public administration, human services and health sciences. Those with degrees in other disciplines may be considered for application. The course does not assume prior knowledge of social policy.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This fee- paying course is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
