Syllabus: Selected topics in communications from the fields of information theory and coding - vector communication systems - error detection and error correcting codes, linear and convolution codes, Viterbi decoding - advanced modulation techniques, generalised theory of modulation - communication network design - network traffic characterisation and management - switching theory - ATM networking - optical comminications, devices and networks.
