Syllabus: Examines the increasing significance of environmental and social issues to corporate strategic planning and financial performance. Specifically, the unit will address the concepts of triple bottom line reporting, incorporating global reporting initiatives, the development and auditing of ISO 14000 compliant environmental management systems and other corporate governance issues. Focuses upon the measurement and reporting problems inherent to social issues as well as the ethical implications of these issues. Employs a heuristic philosophy incorporating work-place field trips, experiential case studies, guest lectures from key industrial figures and service learning components, all of which is designed to broaden students' thinking and to develop their investigative, analytical, problem solving and communicative skills. Recommended for those students who wish to advance to senior corporate positions.
