Introduction

Those with management and supervisory experience within industry can develop a detailed understanding of contemporary environmental issues, the problems and possible solutions, and a working knowledge of how to apply contemporary 'best practice' managerial techniques to improve environmental outcomes and business opportunities for organisations. An emphasis is placed on developing a practical knowledge base, and in developing strategic business skills that will allow firms to generate better environmental outcomes as well as improved business performance.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Appropriate employment experience or a relevant degree from a recognised tertiary institution. Suitable applicants with a degree from a recognised institution, have at least two years work experience within industry, or hold a management or supervisory position, but without a first degree.

Duration and Availability

This fee-paying course is one semester full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Career Opportunities

Substantial opportunities exist for employment as environmental health and safety managers, mining corporations, large local corporates such as CSBP, Shell and Alcoa, non-government environmental organisations and staff of government agencies such as -the Department of Environmental Protection, Environment Australia and local government environmental regulators.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. If Environmental Biology units are undertaken additional costs may be incurred for field trips.
