Introduction
This course provides theoretical, skilled knowledge and generic advanced practice skills required by mental health workers in changing health and community contexts. It focuses on current theoretical knowledge of mental health systems in primary, secondary and tertiary interventions, and mechanisms related to protective and risk factors in cultural, community, organisational, families and individual contexts. The influence of global and local policy, legislation and outcomes are addressed, as well as identifying specific risks and interventions across the lifespan. It also is designed to incorporate recent advances in mental health at the management and practice level, and explore in-depth areas of interest relevant to individual specific disciplines.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A degree in a relevant health science or social science area.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability
This fee paying course is one year part-time study.

Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
