Introduction
The course is structured in a format which relates explicitly to the career aspirations of students wishing to work as project managers, quantity surveyors, construction managers, estimators, administrators and building surveyors. This course prepares students for a professional career in building and construction and related industries. The academic program has been designed for students who aspire to corporate membership of both the Australian Institute of Building and the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors. Students may be invited to undertake an honours program in the final year of the course.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
One TEE Mathematics subject. Mature age applications who have not met these prerequisites should contact the School of Architecture, Construction and Planning.

Specific Requirements
STAT elements considered are E and Q.

Duration and Availability
The course is four years full-time duration or equivalent part-time.

Course Organisation
Students are required to undertake a minimum of 80 days experience in the building industry prior to the final year of the course. Practical experience is recorded in an official log book which is submitted to the course coordinator on completion. It is the responsibility of students to make their own arrangements for gaining the required experience, which may be undertaken during vacations or in employment while studying as a part-time student.

Professional Recognition
Graduates will be eligible for corporate membership of the Australian Institute of Building and the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors after fulfilling experience requirements. Both professional bodies have provision for student membership and students are advised to take advantage of such opportunities.

Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
