Syllabus: Crystallography, BCC, FCC, HCP, packing density, Miller indices and interruption. Structure of metals, alloys, ceramics, plastics, rubbers and glasses. Crystalline defect. Kinetics of crystallisation. XRD. Metallography, sample preparation and use of optical microscope.
