Syllabus: Local hormones: mediators of inflammation and allergy: Eicosanoids. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs; COX and COX-2 antagonists. Histamine H1 receptor blockers. Antiinflammatory Agents: Disease-modifying anti-rheumatoid drugs (DMARDs); quinolones, immunosuppressants, gold salts. Leucotrienes and leucotriene receptor antagonists; lipoxygenase inhibitors. Uric acid modifying drugs. Antiplatelet drugs. Immunosuppression: Corticosteroids; drugs affecting nucleic acid metabolism; folate antagonists; IL-2 and IL-2 receptor blockers. Pain Pathways: Drugs used in pain control. Opioid analgesics and antagonists: Morphine and chemically related opioids; tramadol, methadone and related drugs. Opioid partial agonists and antagonists. Molecular genetics and antineoplastic agents: Nucleic acids: Anti-neoplastics Gastrointestinal System: Ca metabolism. Vitamins/nutrition. Digestion. Drugs affecting gastro-intestinal secretion, emesis and motility.
