Sylllabus: Introduces students to the application of economic principles to the real world and the operation of economic policies. Also covered are the concepts of supply and demand; elasticities; basic market structures of agribusiness firms and factors that affect their operation, including issues related to competition and the failure of market mechanisms. Further issues include major macroeconomic issues in the economy and their effect on agribusiness firms, the functioning of government in agribusiness, and the effect of government intervention in the market and international trade.
