Syllabus: Normal development of the nervous system. Central nervous system, structure and function. Somatosensory systems. Motor systems, role of brainstem, basal ganglia, cerebellum and motor cortex in controlling posture and coordinated movement. Role and integration of reflexes in relation to normal development. Development of cognition perception, visual motor integration, language and feeding behaviours. Developmental checklists and screening tools.
