Curtin University Scholarship Program

The Curtin University Scholarships Program is a major initiative commencing in 2006.

The following scholarships have been introduced under the program to assist students with the cost of their tertiary education.

The scholarships will pay the student contribution and provide an additional $2,000 per year for the length of the degree.

Curtin Academic Merit Scholarships

For students who have displayed high levels of academic achievement

Curtin Access Scholarships

For students who may otherwise not have an opportunity to attend university due to educational, financial or other disadvantage (including indigenous students, students from rural and regional areas and students with disabilities). These scholarships complement the large number of Commonwealth Learning Scholarships available at Curtin.

John Curtin Undergraduate Scholarships

For academically gifted students who have displayed vision, leadership and an outstanding commitment to serving the community. In addition, this scholarship will offer $6,000 towards an approved international study experience.

Study Abroad Scholarships

To assist students to participate in an approved Student Exchange/Study Abroad program once they are studying at the University. This scholarship is a $4,000 one-off payment and does not cover any student contribution component.

Commonwealth Learning Scholarships

These scholarships are funded by the Department of Education, Science and Training to assist students from low socio-economic backgrounds.

Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarships (CAS)

These scholarships are available to Australian citizens or holders of a permanent humanitarian visa to assist students from low socio-economic backgrounds who are from rural and regional areas. The scholarships are offered each year to cover accommodation costs and have a value of $4,084 per annum (2005 value) for up to four years of full-time undergraduate study.

Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarships (CECS)

These scholarships are available to Australian citizens or holders of a permanent humanitarian visa to assist students from low socio-economic backgrounds with general education costs. The scholarships are offered each year and have a value of $2,042 per annum (2005 value) for up to four years of full-time undergraduate study.

OS-HELP Loan

OS-HELP allows eligible students to access a loan to help with the cost of studies undertaken overseas (travel, living expenses or tuition fees) as part of their Australian degree.

Clough Engineering Scholarships

Three scholarships are offered each year to students in the Bachelor of Engineering courses at Curtin in the following streams: Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Civil and Construction, Management and Economics. Candidates must be in enrolled full-time in the final year of their undergraduate course during the year for which the scholarship is awarded. The value of the scholarships will be $5,000 each for one year.

Higher Degree by Research Scholarships

Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA)

These awards are available to Australian citizens, permanent residents of Australia and New Zealand citizens who have completed four years of higher education studies at a high level (Honours One or equivalent). The scholarship is valued at $19,616 per annum (2007 value), tax-free and is indexed annually. The scholarship is tenable for a period of two years to undertake a master degree by research and three years for a doctoral degree. Curtin University Postgraduate Scholarships (CUPS)

These scholarships are available to Australian citizens, permanent residents of Australia and New Zealand citizens who have completed four years of higher education studies at a high level (Honours One or equivalent). CUPS are valued at approximately $19,616 per annum (2007 value) tax-free and indexed annually. The scholarship is tenable for a period of two years to undertake a full-time master degree by research or three years for a doctoral degree. CUPS are only available at Curtin University of Technology. Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (EIPRS)

These scholarships are available to outstanding overseas postgraduate research students for study in Australia. Scholarships are awarded on academic merit and research capacity to suitably qualified overseas graduates eligible to commence a higher degree by research.The scholarship covers tuition fees at an Australian higher education institution for a period of two years for a master degree by research or three years for a doctoral degree. It includes Overseas Student Health Cover for the recipient and dependants. Curtin will provide a Curtin University Postgraduate Scholarships (CUPS) to the top two ranked applicants, valued at $19,616 per annum (2007 value). Curtin International Research Tuition Scholarships (CIRTS)

These scholarships are available to outstanding overseas postgraduate research students for study in Australia. Scholarships are awarded on academic merit and research capacity to suitably qualified overseas graduates eligible to commence a higher degree by research. The scholarship covers tuition fees at an Australian higher education institution for a period of two years for a master degree by research or three years for a doctoral degree. It includes a living allowance (minimum of $19,616 per annum (2007 value) tax-free).
