300226 v.2 Applied Mathematics Stream

Introduction

The applied mathematics stream consists of units covering a wide area and cuts across several branches of mathematics including analytical and numerical methods applied to problems arising from engineering and science. The department has particular strength in operations research, which deals with the analysis of complex systems and has applications in industry and commerce.
