Prerequisite(s): 302246 (v.2) ChE 221 Fluid Mechanics or any previous version
 
Syllabus: Conservation equations for mass, momentum and heat. A comparison of various numerical techniques for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) - introduction to finite difference and finite element methods. Solution to discretised algebraic equations. Finite volume method for diffusion problems. Finite volume method for convection and diffusion problems - pressure velocity coupling. Construction of geometry and discretisation using Gambit - FLUENT's manuals. Commercial CFD solvers. Turbulence modelling. Implementation of boundary conditions. Introduction to multiphase flow. Customising a commercial CFD solver. Unsteady state simulations.
