Syllabus: Biochemistry - fundamentals of biological chemistry, measurement of volume including polymers soaps and detergents. Biochemistry and function of proteins, fats, carbohydrates and nucleic acids. Basic biochemical pathways. Routes of administration of drugs and their interaction with biochemical processes. Topical podiatric pharmacology - an understanding of the pharmaceutical, pharmacological and therapeutic aspects of drugs commonly used in podiatry practice. An understanding of pharmacodynamics and unwanted effects of drugs.
