Syllabus: Overview of the history and current activities of health organisations such as the Red Cross, Community Aid Abroad, AusAid, World Health Organization and Medecins Sans Frontieres. Issues in disasters including natural history of disasters, strategies in disaster management and disaster epidemiology. Climate change and human health, the health impact of globalisation, the effects of militarism, sustainable development, conflicts between globalising industry and environmental protection, gender developmentperspectives and interventions.
