Introduction

This master by coursework is designed for logistics or electronic commerce professionals who wish to increase their knowledge or skills in the management and strategic application of electronic business in logistics environments. The program combines theory, research and practice and incorporates a range of new concepts, methodologies and technologies aimed at supporting organisations in achieving corporative objectives by the application of computing and communications-based technologies in electronic business environments.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Necessary entrance requirements into Stage two is a 65 per cent course average in the Postgraduate Diploma in Logistics and Electronic Business. No Information System/Information Technology industry experience is necessary.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who have already completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Electronic Business may apply for recognition of prior learning for up to a total of 200 credits. Waiver from specific units may be approved but will require substitution in an approved unit by the Course Coordinator.

Duration and Availability

This fee-paying course is two years full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Intermediate Awards I

A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award, may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate awards approved for this course appear below.

Postgraduate Diploma Logistics and Electronic Business

Course Organisation

This masters program consists of two stages. The first stage is the Postgraduate Diploma of Logistics and Electronic Business, and the second stage is the masters by coursework. The Master of Commerce (Logistics and Electronic Business) consists of units of study totalling 400 credits. Stage II incorporates advanced coursework in logistics and electronic business. Students may choose to undertake a research project or optional units.

Professional Recognition

With a prior computing related degree graduates may be able to apply and obtain membership of the Australian Computer Society and the British Computing Society. Students successfully completing the degree may also be able to apply for membership of the Hong Kong chapter of the Chartered Association of Logistics and Transport.

Career Opportunities

Students generally find employment in management roles in organisations involved in logistics and electronic business.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials.
