Introduction

This course has been developed to further the skills of those intending to be involved in health development programs. Various areas of health promotion such as planning, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation are covered. Health promotion and the media, and communication strategies which utilise current technology are incorporated into the curriculum.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A relevant bachelor degree plus two years of relevant post-bachelor degree experience. Work experience is assessed on the basis of the following - level of seniority and responsibility, job description, work based referee report, publications or other written reports, short courses or conference attendance.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This fee-paying course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study.

A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award, may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate awards approved for this course appear below.

Course Organisation

The core areas of health promotion are covered - planning, methods, evaluation, research and working with media. Both media and health professionals can follow their personal interests via course work and projects during the equivalent of three semestersfull time study. Optional units are also available with approval of the course coordinator.
