Syllabus: This unit will not be available until 2007. Risk management. Accident sources, consequences and preventative action. Personal health and safety. Process safety analysis. Loss prevention. Process safety in design. Process safety in operations. Defining and quantifying risk. Checklists. HAZOP studies. HAZAN techniques. Human factors. Linking HAZOP, process control, instrumentation and alarm systems. Cost of plant safety. Environmental impact. Case studies of serious plant accidents.
