Syllabus: Theory and design concepts for slender struts. Analysis of simple space trusses using the tension coefficient method. Approximate analysis of beams and sway prevented frames. Slope deflection method and its application to beams and sway prevented frames. Moment distribution method and its application to beams and sway prevented frames. Virtual work theorems applied to deflections and analysis of indeterminate beams and frames. Use of influence lines on statically determinate beam and frame problems.
