Syllabus: This unit will not be available until 2006. Design fundamentals, load analysis, static body stresses, column buckling, design of columns and beams to the Australian Structural Steel Code. Impact, corrosion and wear. Rolling element design and selection. Spur gears, helical gears. Shaft design. Fundamentals of centrifugal pump design, application and selection. Application of pumps to pipe systems, including prevention of cavitation and water hammer.
