Syllabus: Directed study and research. Satellite geodesy - reference frames and coordinate transformations, time. Satellite motion, ephemeris generation. Geodetic satellites, TRANSIT Doppler. GPS precise positioning - observation procedures, reductions to local datum, mathematical models. Satellite laser ranging, very long baseline interferometry, satellite altimetry. Hands on experience with GPS positioning. Case studies and applications.
