Introduction

This course is designed for mathematics teachers, advisors, curriculum developers and administrators in primary, secondary, technical and tertiary education institutions. It is structured to provide for the systematic development of professional knowledge and skills through a substantial core of studies in mathematics education reflecting individual needs and interests.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A relevant degree or diploma and teaching experience. However, other qualifications and experience may satisfy entry requirements.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis

Duration and Availability

This fee paying course is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study. It is possible to undertake studies through a number of alternative arrangements. Students may elect to undertake the whole or part of their studies on a full-time, part-time or external study basis, and project work may be undertaken in short intensive periods such as annual holidays or long service leave. Not all units are available each year.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials.

Special Note

In some Australian states, this course is considered the equivalent of a fourth year of training for salary and career purposes.
