234810 v.4 Information Technology and Electronic Commerce Double Major

Introduction

This double major is designed for those seeking a career in information technology with a specialisation in electronic commerce. The information technology component of the course concentrates on the design, development and implementation of business information systems. The electronic commerce component recognises the growing importance of the computing and communications-based technologies that make up the so-called 'information superhighway'. As business becomes more global and the nature of organisations changes to capitalise on international opportunities, international commerce and trade is becoming increasingly reliant on electronic commerce technology. The focus of this double major therefore is on global or inter-organisational systems in general and Internet based solutions in particular.
