Introduction

This course provides opportunities to combine study in a science area with support study in other areas of the student's choice. It provides a means of response to the rapidly changing needs of society, which rarely fit within the traditional boundaries of scientific disciplines. Graduates will have a sound background in their chosen area, but with greater ability to adapt to problems covered in their studies than would otherwise be the case.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Prior knowledge of mathematics and science is desirable.

Specific Requirements

STAT elements considered are E and either V or Q.

Note

Entry to this course may also be available after completion of a relevant diploma or equivalent.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The course is three years full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Course Organisation

The course requirements will ensure a uniformity of academic achievement without restricting options unnecessarily. In order to complete the three-year degree the requirement will be study of Curtin units, credit transfer from other institutions, recognition of prior learning based on industrial experience, and the use of Open Learning Australia. Of these, a maximum of 275 credits must be from units at first year level and a minimum of 125 credits from units at third year level.

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials.
