132310 v.3 Bachelor of Science (Mathematical Sciences), Bachelor of Science (Computer Science)

BSc(Curtin), BSc(Curtin)

Course CRICOS Code: 027192J
Registered Duration for International Onshore Students on student visas: 4 Years

Introduction

This double degree provides the opportunity for students to pursue their interests in mathematics and computing as joint disciplines. The course offers in-depth study in areas of mathematics and computing which are not fully available in a single degree in either discipline.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Calculus and Applicable Mathematics.

Specific Requirements

The STAT is not accepted for entry to this course.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The course is four years full-time study. Two intakes are offered each year, in March and August. Prospective students should note that places may not always be available for the August intake.

Course Organisation

Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two disciplines. In this event the relevant Head of Department shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree. The structure of Engineering, Science and Computing owned double degrees is such that students have the option of completing the component Engineering, Science or Computing degree in the minimum time, provided they elect to change from the double degree within the first two semesters of the course.

Professional Recognition

Graduates of this program will receive Professional Level Accreditation from the Australian Computer Society and are eligible for membership of the Australian Mathematical Society.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials.
