Animate and inanimate causes of maladies in plants, elements of plant pathology, life cycles and symptoms of major pathogens, soil borne nursery diseases, control of major pathogens, life cycles and symptoms of major pests, prevention of diseases and pests, the basis of resistance and susceptibility in plants. Review of chemical, biological and bioenvironmental control methods. Recognition of diseases. Insect pests. Major groups of plant pathogens. Management of pests and pathogens.
