Overview of tasking concepts. Real - time scheduling - rate monotonic algorithm, priority ceiling protocol. Static versus dynamic scheduling. Real time kernels. Real time case studies - cruise control, robot controller, elevator control, distributed factory automation system. SCADA systems. Quality control. Fault tolerance. Formal methods. Specifications, testing and maintenance of real time systems. UML.
