Baseband digital communication systems, Nyquist criterion and intersymbol interference, eye patterns, partial response signalling, line coding, synchronization and clock recovery, noise performance and probability of error, optimum receiver design, linear and decision feedback equalization, carrier modulation for digital transmission systems. Introduction to error correcting coding. Selected topics from - signal space theory, advanced modulation schemes, detection theory.
