Stratigraphy principles, nomenclature and procedures in stratigraphy. Correlations, facies and stratigraphic maps. Introduction to sequence stratigraphy. Geology, stratigraphy and depositional sequences of selected Australian sedimentary basins. Sedimentology. History of sedimentology. Physical properties of sediments, weathering and sedimentary cycles. Sediment classification. Sedimentary processes and structures. Introduction to the study of sedimentary environments, facies and basin fill.
