E-commerce is radically altering economic activities and the social environment. It affects large sectors of the economy, such as communications, finance, retail trade, education, health and government. It affects the way that businesses interact. Examines the impact of e-commerce, and the way that business should behave strategically in this new environment. Topics include (with case studies), the planning of product lines of information goods, the development of value-maximising pricing strategies, the management of intellectual property rights, the strategic implications of lock-in and switching costs, and strategic choice in relation to government policy and regulation. Implications for taxation policy are also explored.
