Double Degree in Communication and Cultural Studies and Social Science

Introduction

This double degree in Communication and Cultural Studies and Social Science combines study in a major of Australian and intercultural studies, creative writing, cultural studies, gender studies, literary studies, performance studies, professional writing and presentation or publishing practice in combination with study in a major of anthropology, geography, history, politics or sociology.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

TEE English or English Literature, minimum scaled mark of 60 desirable.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis and may be given for studies sucessfully completed in the relevant area at approved institutions.

Duration and Availability

This course is four years full-time or equivalent part-time study and is available in semester one and semester two each year.

Course Organisation

Students undertake the Australian intercultural studies, creative writing, cultural studies, gender studies, literary studies, performance studies, professional writing and presentation or publishing practice major in combination with the Anthropology, Geography, History, Politics and Sociology. Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two areas. In this event, the relevant Head of School shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of cosumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
