Introduction

Designed for those with a degree in a computing related discipline who wish to enhance skills and knowledge in the design and management of Internet security and electronic commerce in business organisations. It examines both the technical and managerial aspects of Internet security in a business environment. The mix of generic skills, specialist knowledge and practical skills, are planned to develop a well-rounded graduate, one who has the ability to solve problems in the Internet security arena. The practical nature of the course will assist students to consolidate their learning by actually doing and then reflecting upon that learning process. Confidence and ability to apply knowledge and skills to problem situations in an Internet environment willbe gained.

Course Organisation

The course commences with a combination of technical and management areas encompassing cybercrime and Internet security management together with problem solving as well as computer communications and networks. The second part of the course extends knowledge and skills in both technical and management aspects of Internet security management.

Professional Recognition

With a prior computing related degree graduates may apply for membership of the Australian Computer Society and the British Computing Society. Students successfully completing the Computer Forensics 601 unit may apply for membership of the Australian and New Zealand Forensic Science Society. This course is intended for professional accreditation by Australian Computer Society, British Computer Society, Australia and New Zealand Forensic Science Society and also meets the Cybercrime Police Competency Standards of the Australasian Police Professional Standards Council.
