Introduction

In recent years, sport has been increasingly recognised as a significant set of practices and institutions in social life. This major allows a wide choice of units relevant to the study of sport and society. In particular, this major allows students to gain an understanding of the place of sport from a number of perspectives in the social sciences and other related disciplines.
