BEd(Hons)(Curtin)

Introduction

This honours course provides the opportunity to undertake a dissertation based program in the field of education. It provides for discipline studies appropriate to education and for guided research into an aspect of concern in educational settings. This course also culminates in the presentation of a dissertation on a piece of original research.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

This course may only be undertaken by those who have completed the Bachelor of Arts (Education) (Vocational Education and Training) or Bachelor of Arts (Training and Development) or Bachelor of Arts (Education), or the Bachelor of Education Conversion Course for Qualified Teachers. Refer to the Admission into Honours Degree Programs and Regulations for Honours Degrees (General Information section). Admission is by invitation only and may be offered to students with outstanding academic achievement and potential as indicated by performance in previous courses such as Diploma of Teaching or Bachelor of Arts (Education) or equivalent courses. This criterion is normally satisfied by a course weighted average of 75 per cent or better. Students may lodge applications to enrol in the Honours course at the time they commence studies in the Bachelor of Education (Conversion) degree or at the end of the first semester of study for the pass degree.

Duration and Availability

This honours course is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
