197904 v.6 Master of Engineering Management

MEngMgnt(Curtin)

Introduction

The masters program is a joint undertaking between the Division of Engineering, Science and Computing and the Curtin Business School. The engineer in a managerial role in industry has to utilise a broad range of skills and competencies which are essential to the planning, co-ordination and control of engineering projects, contracts and plant.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A bachelor of engineering or an equivalent qualification in a recognised discipline of engineering with a high aggregate, together with at least one years relevant work experience since graduation.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. A student may, under specific circumstances, receive a waiver for a basic unit. In this case the student must substitute an alternative unit selected from the advanced and optional unit listing once approved by the Head of Department.

Duration and Availability

The course is of two years full-time study. Students usually undertake the course on a part-time basis over a minimum period of four years. Students are required to undertake a minimum of two units per semester (equivalent to the part-time program), and remain enrolled in consecutive years until the course has been satisfactorily completed. Leave of absence may be granted by the Head of Department.

Course Organisation

A maximum of two units may be replaced by appropriate electives with the agreement of the Course Coordinator.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
