196904 v.3 Master of Engineering Science (Mining Geomechanics)

MEngSc(Curtin)

Introduction

The course is especially designed for practising mining, civil and geological engineers and mine and engineering geologists. The units offered deal with modern methodologies and the state of the art in mining and mine environmental geomechanics. Course attendees may become geotechnical specialists or technical managers. Career paths for the geotechnical specialist include in-house specialists in mining and petroleum companies, consultants, academics, researchers, and technical specialists for mine supply organisations.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A four year bachelors degree with honours or a Graduate Certificate in Mining Geomechanics. Students with lesser qualifications will be directed to enrol in the Graduate Certificate in Mining Geomechanics.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
