Introduction

This course offers studies in general multi-disciplinary health sciences or health management. The general studies option provides students with the opportunity to combine studies in a number of health areas of their choice. One subject area is chosen for in-depth learning. The health management option develops an awareness and understanding of current health issues and organisations, management theory, health law, resource management, information technology and provides the flexibility to undertake study in other areas. Professional practice placements may also be available. This is a suitable program for those with previously completed professional qualifications not of degree status, such as nursing or dental therapy.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

One TEE mathematics and one TEE science subject.

Specific Requirements

STAT elements considered are E and either V or Q. Applicants for this course should refer to the Communicable Diseases and Criminal Record Screening/Clearance Section of this publication.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This course is three years full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Career Opportunities

Graduates find employment in management positions with health agencies or in the health insurance industry.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
