MIntlBus(Curtin)

Introduction

Development of global managerial competencies in the Asia-Pacific region. The course features guided independent study, team projects and maximum use of information and communications technology. A unique feature of the course is its action learning format and emphasis on international business competencies. The program is not a generalist one where students from diverse, non-business backgrounds are accepted. It is a masters program for candidates with business or related experience.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A bachelor degree in business, commerce or a related area together with either a postgraduate qualification in a related field or at least two years in a senior level international managerial role. Applicants with other relevant qualifications and or experience may be considered for admission but may be required to complete additional foundation units.

Specific Requirements

Candidates with insufficient background may be required to complete one or more of the following foundation units before commencing the Master of International Business program - Cross Cultural Communication and Transitions 580, International trade 501, Human Resource Management (International) 650, Finance (International) 573.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This fee-paying course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. Some units are available during the evening. Course duration will depend on previous qualifications and experience.

Intermediate Awards

A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Postgraduate Diploma in Business (Management) may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School. For further definition refer to the Statement and Awards section under General Information.

Course Organisation

Students can take part in a study tour (duration approximately seven days).

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study. In addition, students may undertake a study tour unit at their own expense.

N2 Candidates directly accepted in the program may select any of the foundation units as optional units. These units are 5472 Cross Cultural Com and Transition 580, 13314 International Trade 501, 5771 Hum Resource Man (Int) 650, 12753 Finance (Int) 573
^ This unit may be used to replace Stage 2 units of equivalent credits. Prior approval from the Master of International Business, Academic Program Controller is required.
