UNIT REFERENCES, TEXTS, OUTCOMES AND ASSESSMENT DETAILS: | The most up-to-date information about unit references, texts and outcomes, will be provided in the unit outline. |
Syllabus: | The principles underpinning the Australian timber structures design code are examined and utilised in the design of timber members and connections and manufactured wood products. Steel design principles are extended with their application to the design of portal frame structures. An integrated structural design project is to be undertaken, using a combination of timber, steel and reinforced concrete elements. Students will work in groups to develop concept designs for comparison. The detailed design of one concept design will be carried out (individually), including estimation of material quantities and a cost analysis. |
