Syllabus: | In this unit, students will apply theory and principles of cadastral field surveying to determine the location of land boundaries. They will develop their skills in field surveying to manage and conduct a cadastral survey for boundary redefinition and subdivision. It will be necessary for them to identify and evaluate historical survey records, conducting office calculations prior to field survey. Students will locate and assess land boundary evidence during the field survey, carrying out field calculations so that land boundaries can be re-established in their original position. The cadastral surveying process is undertaken from start to finish: searching, pre-survey calculation, fieldwork, field checks, post-fieldwork calculations, plan preparation and reporting/justifying boundary redefinition decisions. A work placement is also undertaken. |
